After receiving registration and payment, registrants will receive a video link on the morning of the training.
Registration cancellations will be accepted until Friday, January 17, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Cancellation Policy:
Written cancellation requests for refunds of registration payment must be received on or before noon on Friday, January 17th. No refunds will be made after this date. Substitutions will be accepted, or requests of credit to membership accounts may be made by contacting the Treasurer at treasurer@cela1.org by noon on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Course Description
This course is designed to equip code enforcement officers with the skills and strategies needed to effectively achieve voluntary compliance through problem-solving and conflict resolution techniques. Participants will learn how to engage property owners, tenants, and community members in a collaborative manner, fostering positive relationships while addressing code violations. Emphasizing communication, negotiation, and critical thinking, this course prepares officers to handle complex situations with confidence, reduce confrontations, and promote a safer and more compliant community.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Understand the principles of voluntary compliance and how they differ from enforcement-based approaches.

2.  Apply problem-solving techniques to identify the root causes of non-compliance and develop effective solutions.

3.  Use conflict resolution strategies to manage disputes and de-escalate tense situations while maintaining professionalism and neutrality.

4.  Develop communication skills that foster trust and cooperation between enforcement officers and the public.

5.  Create action plans for addressing common barriers to compliance and ensuring sustained resolution of code violations.
