Building the Winning Case
Presented by Chip Sikes
We’ve all seen and heard of Cases being lost in Court or dismissed. Maybe the offenses were dropped, or even a Prosecutor refusing to take a Case because of: “No likelihood of Conviction”, therefore no Prosecution.
Have you ever asked yourself, what does a rock-solid case really look like to a Prosecutor? Is it because the case “lost it’s luster” as the Prosecutor read the details of the report? Who currently approaches a Call for Service or Observations of Violations in the Public, with the Courtroom in mind at on-set?
Do your reports “Lack the Luster”, as mentioned above? What are the best and most streamline processes to collect information, record it, then present it, so my reader doesn’t grow bored?
In this Course, we address Patrol Procedures that reference:
- Observations of Violations, in comparison to Calls for Service”.
- The art of Writing the Report. We Determine who our reader is and am I boring them senseless?
- What are the best practices for Scene Photos? Who Gets the BIG PICTURE here?
- Citizen Contacts - Who are the real Players?
- Issuing Violations - What's Lawful, what's not?
- Follow-Up: What's Changed? What's Not?
- Issuing Civil Citations
- Civil Processes becoming Criminal Proceedings
This course also covers: “What does my Career look like on paper?” What does my Professional stature look like on paper? Which Professionals do I take Seriously, Who takes me Seriously? These are heavy, thought provoking and possibly worrisome questions to ponder. If you’re not sure, let’s get you pointed in the correct direction.
